From a real news story:

Suzanne Vasquez's life "completely changed" after a 13-pound country ham fell on her head at the Cortez Road Wal-Mart Supercenter, her husband testified Wednesday.

A thirteen. pound. ham.

on her -head-.

at -Walmart-.

I swear, the weirdest stuff's been newsworthy the last few days. Al-Quaeda must be hiding out.

A long time ago, I had this journal here called scr@wls. (Yes, I know, the @ instead of the "a" was eversoOriginal. Actually, for the time it was here, it -was- still original, until the @=a thing was just everywhere, at which point I changed the name, but that's neither here nor there.)

I had something like eighteen zillion entries, since I was trying consciously (and had the time to) write every single day. Sometimes more than once. And not the little entries like over at livejournal, but full-blown, having-to-think-about-it entries, hand-coded in the days pre-greymatter.

Once, I had this huge bug up my butt to get virtually organized (which I still get from time to time, but I'm much more relaxed now). So I made this new index page for Scr@wls that had ALL the entries listed in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. This does not seem like much of a feat -now-, when the software will do it for you and all. Back when it was all hand-done, it was a -bitch-.

So I do this whole huge index page, upload it, and a few days later, a tech glitch (namely, my fat-fingeredness had me accidentally hit the wrong update ftp buttons and I) overwrote the new index with the old one on BOTH my server and my hard drive. (It was a feat for the record books.) I looked everywhere for someone who had it in their cache, but none did. Poof, gone.

So when I go to my own site now and see the wrong index page with not so much as a link to get inside, I freak out.

Luckily, this time I still had the index page on Ben's drive here at home. It could've been one of those heartbreak situations all over again.

Ain't technology grand?
