What a fabulous day I had yesterday. At the risk of gushing (well, okay, so I don't care if I gush...), I found this amazing area about a half-hour from here that is my new favorite place. Ever.
A couple months ago, I got this letter from someone in the area that suggested I go to this local rubber stamp/paper art store. To be honest, I kind of looked at the website and thought that it wasn't really my deal. I'm not into fluffy bunny stamps or pink homemade cards with anthropomorphic mice performing daily activities on them. I mean, I've got nothing against Cute, but give me Bizarre anyday.
The store itself wasn't so bad. (It was good enough for me to drop $30 on some interesting coffee-related stamps, at least, for this project I'm working on for the botm zine trade...) They had a lot of bookmaking supplies and weird-o papers, and some great line art stamps that I'd never seen before.
It kind of reminds me of Philadelphia's South Street...without the urban decay. (give it time, I'm sure.)

Ah, I love the village! I went to college in La Verne and I used to go there all the time to shop and take pictures and wander. I wish I still lived there.

ps - Do you know what they are building by the Galleria? I drove by yesterday and thought it looked kind of like a bookstore. I hope that's what it is.

Tricia!! It's a BARNES AND NOBLE!!! Can you believe it?! We're entering the civilized world!
It'd be better if it was a Border's, of course. But beggars can't be choosers, and I'm PERFECTLY FINE with a B&N for now.
But now that I know about the Village, I doubt I'll have even a single freakin' dime of extra cash to spend at B&N. :)
good to see you here! thanks for the comments. :)
And YES, Looloo!! I got some coffee stamps. Two of them, in fact -- a little four-sided dealie with four different tiny images of mugs and pots, and one that looks like it originated as a hand-carved coffee cup. I'm loving that one, lemmetellya.

South Street....::cries:: has gone drastically downhill. really. I was there a while ago, and was just kinda like.... "wait. this place used to be cool... I swear..."
New Hope, thankfully, has not.
